In-Store Promotional Corners (WP7) – Toronto, Ontario
As part of the EU co-funded programme “Eat & Think Pink Canada – Say yes to the Best, Eat European Pork!”, Eat & Think Pink Canada launched the WP7 in-store promotional activities in Toronto, Ontario, bringing European pork directly to final consumers through information, tastings and direct engagement.
Objectives of the WP7 Action
The in-store promotion aims to:
- Present European pork products to consumers at the point of purchase
- Communicate EU origin, traceability and quality guarantees
- Highlight food safety, sustainability and culinary tradition
- Provide recipe ideas and preparation tips
- Collect consumer feedback through dedicated questionnaires
This approach creates a transparent and trust-based dialogue between European producers and Canadian consumers.
Apulia Gastronomia: First WP7 Activation
The first WP7 promotional corner in Toronto was launched at Apulia Gastronomia, a highly frequented Italian gourmet store serving both local and online customers.
The corner was active for 7 consecutive days and included:
- A branded Eat & Think Pink information point
- Distribution of EU-compliant informational materials
- Guided tastings supported by trained in-store staff
- Collection of questionnaires via paper and QR code
Consumers showed strong appreciation for the taste, ease of preparation and visual identity of the products, reinforcing interest in European pork standards.
Expansion Across Toronto – Terroni Group
Following Apulia Gastronomia, the WP7 action continued across the Terroni Group retail network, one of Toronto’s most recognized Italian food chains:
Spaccio East – TerroniSpaccio Sterling – TerroniSpaccio Sud Queen – TerroniThese high-traffic locations allowed the project to reach a broad and diverse audience, including food lovers, Italian-Canadian families, chefs and hospitality professionals.
Scale and Impact – Toronto
The Toronto WP7 activities contributed to:
- Increased awareness of European pork quality standards
- Strong consumer engagement through tastings and dialogue
- Reinforced association between European products and Italian lifestyle
The Toronto phase represents a strategic foundation for the national rollout of the WP7 action.
